Required Courses For All Managers and Supervisors

Beginning January 2013, the Managing Employee Performance and the Fundamentals of Supervision courses will be offered separately.

In accordance with the State Personnel Board Rules 1.7.9.9 A, all "Managers and supervisors must successfully complete a director-approved course of study on employee performance appraisal within 90 days of appointment as a supervisor."  To be in compliance with this rule, SPO delivers the Managing Employee Performance course on a regular schedule.  This course includes sections on Manager and Employee Evaluations, how to use the approved forms and how to conduct a productive evaluation.

This course includes sections on Supervision and Leadership, Transitioning to Manager/Supervisor, Communication Tools for Managers/Supervisors, Employee Evaluations, Realigning Employee Performance, Engaging Workplace Conflict Correctly, Generational Differences in the Workplace, Ethics in the Workplace, Hiring the Right Candidate and On-boarding New Staff Members.
