SPO Congratulates First Advanced Team Leadership Program Graduates
The State Personnel Office Learning and Development Bureau wishes to recognize and congratulate the first graduating cohort of the Advanced Team Leadership (ATL) Program. This group of 18 individuals successfully completed the ATL Program on March 27 and 28, 2024, by presenting their Capstone projects to their fellow cohort members. The Capstone presentation day was opened with remarks from State Personnel Office Director Dylan Lange, who thanked the program participants for their dedication to advancing their leadership skills in service of the State of New Mexico. After that, the program participants presented the projects, and were later awarded certificate of program completion by State Personnel Office Learning and Development Manager Jaime Phillips.
The graduates of the March 2024 cohort presented the projects that they had designed and implemented to apply what they had learned from the 12 eLearning courses required for program completion. Capstone projects included topics such as “Managing Multigenerational Teams,” “Building a Positive Team Environment,” “Practicing Emotional Intelligence,” and “Cultivating Resilient Staff.” The graduates represented 15 different state agencies and courts from all around New Mexico, including offices in Albuquerque, Angel Fire, Gallup, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe.

Advanced Team Leadership is a program of study meant to take team leadership skills to the next level. The program is intended for State of New Mexico employees who have at least one year of supervisory experience and who are currently supervising at least two employees. Prior completion of the Essentials of Supervision and Management Program is recommended. In the ATL Program, participants first complete a series of 12 eLearning courses, and then design, implement, and present on a Capstone Project in which they apply a strategy, tactic, or other idea from the learning to their own team leadership. The ATL program runs quarterly, and the next cohort of program participants is currently underway with a June graduation planned. The eLearning courses can be taken anytime on the ELM system without registering for the full program.
