The ESM series is a program of study consisting of ten eLearning modules and two instructor-led trainings. The series is intended for those new to supervision and management, those aspiring to supervision and management, and for supervisors and managers who wish to review foundational skills and enhance their professional growth and development. Courses included in the series cover key supervisory/managerial topics such as transitioning from peer to manager, managing a team, delegating work, holding productive meetings, motivating employees, giving feedback, handling conflict, interviewing job candidates, promoting diversity and avoiding bias, and performance management. The series will provide each learner with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to practice their application through scenarios and discussion. Following completion of the final course and assessment, each learner will receive a certificate of completion of the Essentials of Supervision and Management series. The courses may also be taken separately without completing the series. Please go to the ELM system to register for courses in the series.

This course is mandatory upon appointment to supervision. This is a hybrid course, and both sections must be completed in order to receive credit for the course. Completion of Part 1 (self-paced eLearning under course code SoNM-1914) is required in order to enroll in Part 2 (instructor-led, interactive course under course code SoNM-1915). Part 1 overviews requirements, evaluation cycles, and best practices. Part 2 provides practice setting goals, rating performance, and writing feedback comments.
Conducting Performance Evaluations (CPE) helps managers and supervisors learn to implement the Employee Evaluation Cycle, write goals that promote employee growth and development, and rate employee performance. The Employee Evaluation process is more than a mandatory review of performance; it’s an opportunity for you to ensure the success of every member of your team and the mission you serve. The hybrid CPE course is intended to support you in that effort.
